Tunable Lasers

ID Photonics produces 4 types of tunable sources (H01, N01, C01, W01), which can be integrated in some or all of 3 kinds of turnkey housings (DX, MX and PX series, see below).

CoBrite tunable sources

H01 : Continuously tunable laser

  • 100kHz, 25kHz typical  narrow linewidth for coherent transmission applications and research
  • C- or L- Band tunability to any value with 1MHz resolution
  • Extended range for C Band tunable laser covering both A- and C- band! (191.3 – 196.25THz). Customer specified tuning range available from 1515 to 1625nm
  • Polarization maintaining output
  • output power range of 6 – 16dBm
  • Frequency accuracy +/-1.5GHz, +/-0.3GHz over 24hrs
  • Power stability 0.03dB over 24hours
  • Available on all Laser platforms (see hereunder)
  • Extension for C+L Band in single laser port available:
    • 186.25 to 196.25THz (1527.604nm to 1609.623nm) seamless tuning range
    • output power range 3 – 12dBm

N01 : 1KHz Ultra-narrow linewidth tunable laser

  • 1kHz linewidth for next generation coherent transmission applications

C01 : 300KHz linewidth ITU tunable laser

  • 300kHz typical narrow linewidth for coherent transmission applications which require excellent stability for 0.1seconds or more
  • extremely stable line for low speed carrier recovery receivers
  • C- or L- Band tunability on 50GHz ITU Grid
  • Polarization maintaining output
  • output power up to 15.5dBm

W01 : Standard linewidth ITU tunable laser

IQ Automatic Bias Control – ABC (PDF)

BIAS_Control_Application_Example

This device is designed to automatically find and lock the operating point of Mach-Zehnder modulators, for single polarization Intensity Modulation as well as for multiplexed IQ modulation. In that last case, it automatically locks on the optimal operating point for arbitrary RF input signals (QPSK, QAM, Nyquist…).

IQ optical Multi-format transmitter – OMFT (PDF)

OMFT

A fully integrated device which converts electrical RF signals into an IQ modulated optical signal over a 40GHz bandwidth.

It can easily be interfaced with Arbitrary Waveforms or Pulse Patterns generators.

Multi-Terabit Test solution (PDF)

This device was developed in cooperation with the famous Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. It results in an optical multi-format transmitter enabling generation of signals with various modulation formats (PSK, QPSK, 16-QAM…) for up to 272Gb/s per carrier.

It includes 34GSamples/s Waveform generators, high-bandwidth dual polarization IQ modulator, and a nonlinear pre-distortion processor. It provides thus up to 200 DWDM channels and up to 54 Tb/s signals.
