C. Extended Mode-Hop Free range DBR Laser diodes

Photodigm developed a DBR chip which allows a good control of both temperature and current tunings, and especially of temperature differences between the gain medium and the grating, in order to achieve mode-hop free ranges up to 2nm for all the Photodigm’s wavelengths. Both parameters still remain easy to reach and to handle with, thanks to their specific TOSA package: up to 30°C and 200mA.

General principle of a DBR

This offers more versatile solutions in applications such as Raman spectroscopy or Tunable Laser Diode Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) and opens new metrology fields to DBR such as wavelength-sweeping interferometry telemeters.
